Edom, Texas is just a short drive west of Tyler towards Ben Wheeler and Canton as shown on the map below.
It's a lovely small community of restaurants, art galleries and more. It is also the home to spring and fall art shows well known in all of Texas. We love to visit and have lunch at Edom, and attend the Edom Festival of the Arts. The next Festival is scheduled for October 16-17, 2010.
We always enjoy a meal at The Shed Cafe and the Edom Bakery and Grill, and visits for berry picking in the early summer at Blueberry Hill Farms. Artisans in pottery, silver jewelry, glassware, macrame, and leather crafts live in town and operate attractive shops.
We also make special trips to Blue Moon Gardens nursery just east of Edom. The quality of all of their plants is excellent, and their selection of butterfly and hummingbird-friendly plants is huge.
The grounds themselves at Blue Moon are very well done and make a great place for walks, and the inside gift shop and garden center are not to be missed!
Also nearby, in Ben Wheeler, is Roseland Plantation, open for tours, facilities for meetings and retreats, and offers bed & breakfast accomodations. The Texas Rose Horse Park offers a variety of equestrian events at its beautiful location on Texas Highway 110, just off I-20 at Exit 548.
Edom, the third oldest town in Van Zandt County, was first established several miles from its present site in 1849. Sometime later the town was moved to its present location. For more information about the history of Edom, we recommend a visit to the Edom Historical Society Museum, in walking distance from other popular attractions in Edom.

Shown below are a few photos we shot during a recent trip to Edom.
