Location and Size

Lake Palestine is located about 15 miles southwest of Tyler, Texas, on Texas Highway 155, and resulting from a dam on the Neches River.

It has a surface area of 25,560 acres and a maxumum depth of 58 feet. The dam was completed in 1962. It is the largest lake in the Tyler area in addition to Lake Tyler.

Lake Palestine offers something for everyone, with boating, skiing, and fishing all being popular activities. It is the location of popular camps such as Pine Cove Christian Camps, and major attractions such as the Villages Resort.

The lake is very popular for largemouth bass tournaments due to its consistent success. Both white bass and hybrid striped bass are present; white bass are particularly popular during their spring run up the Neches River and Kickapoo Creeks. Channel and blue catfishes are abundant and flathead catfish provide great opportunity for trophy-sized fish.
